International Committee of the Red Cross
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is a humanitarian organization that protects and assists victims of armed conflict and violence around the world. For a decade, ICRC has been working in Syria, providing medical care, reuniting families, delivering essential supplies, and supporting communities affected by ongoing conflict. Their work is critical, often lifesaving, and deeply human.
ICRC had been working in Syria for ten years. A decade of impact. A decade of lives changed. But in the midst of relentless news coverage focused on turmoil and violence, the positive strides they'd made were getting drowned out.
They needed to show what hope looks like in a conflict zone. They needed people to understand that humanitarian work is more than responding to crisis. Their work was rebuilding lives, reconnecting families, and creating pathways forward.
The challenge was cutting through the noise and making the impact feel real, not abstract.
We built an interactive microsite that told the story through the people who lived it.
We followed five individuals in and beyond the conflicts in Syria, using video footage, interactive images, and narrative content to bring their experiences to life. These weren't statistics. They were real people with real stories—stories of resilience, loss, reunion, and hope.
The microsite let users see the impact of ICRC's work through the eyes of the people on the ground. It was intimate, immersive, and human. And it drew attention back to a humanitarian crisis that still hasn't reached its conclusion.
